Kjellgren Alkire serves the Lake City EDA full-time. He began in this position in July 2018. In his previous work as full-time university faculty, his areas of research included development of rural cultural capital, placemaking and public-private ventures. He completed his undergraduate degree in Community Development and Fine Arts at Concordia University in Saint Paul; his MFA is from Arizona State University (Go Sun Devils!).
Kjellgren serves his children dinner as often as possible, as a volunteer leader in a small country church, as the Wabasha County Representative for the Board of Directors of the Southeast Minnesota Arts Council. He runs Oakstreet Projects, an independent artist-run curatorial platform.
The goal of his work is to help Lake City, Minnesota thrive with creativity, clarity and strategy.
