Schreck worked as a high rise construction manager for more than 20 years in Chicago Illinois. He was contracted to run major projects for Morse/Diesel, Inc. (Sears Tower) and Tishman Construction Corp. (World Trade Centers). Schreck has developed several condominium projects in Chicago along with several major high-rise renovations including the world famous and award-winning Belden Stratford Hotel in Lincoln Park. He was project manager on the Hotel Nikko-Chicago and the million square foot Gateway IV office next to Union Station in Chicago. Schreck also assisted in managing the construction for the 47 story PPG corporate headquarters in Pittsburg PA.

Schreck is currently serving on the Lake City City Council and is a member of many organizations including, Kiwanis, Lions, Destination Lake City, Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Bureau, Downtown Task Force, and the Lake City Historical Society. He and his wife are owners of Lakeside Antiques and part owners of the Antique Shopper in Lake City, Minnesota. Schreck graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in 1979 with two degrees and a business minor.
